OpenQueue - Programming Interfaces

OpenQueue is a text-oriented, client-server protocol, roughly similar in philosophy to IMAP or SMTP. We decided to avoid dependencies on XML, CORBA, or other tools which, while powerful, add overhead. A goal is to enable OpenQueue to run on anything from enterprise servers to the simplest of PDAs and phones.

Since OpenQueue is text-oriented, it is relatively easy to write interfaces to it in different languages. Currently there are some OpenQueue tools written in Java, Perl, and Tcl. We also would like to create additional language bindings, and to provide bindings to JMS, the Java Message Service API. The tools which are available can be downloaded from OpenQueue's home page.
